The Board of Park Commissioners approved the Patriot Park Master Plan and Report on December 13, 2017.
 

Background

In 1997, 5.41 acres of public parkland were dedicated to the City of Madison as part of the High Crossing Fourth Addition development.  Since this dedication, new residential development has been completed and it is now time to master plan Patriot Park!  The park master planning process will follow the City of Madison Master Plan Policy. Parks staff will hold at least two public input meetings and issue an online survey to gather input from the community on the future of Patriot Park. Once the Master Plan has been developed with input from the neighborhood, the plan will go to the Board of Park Commissioners for approval.

Public Input Meeting #1

Monday, July 10th, 5:30 pm The Madison Apartments Clubhouse 5440 Congress Avenue Madison, WI 53718   Staff Presentation: Staff presentation on existing conditions, future development, and influencing factors. Presentation iClicker Results Design Patriot Park Planning Exercise: Community members worked in groups to create their own master plan for Patriot Park.  This exercise included development of both the existing parkland and anticipated future parkland shown in the Nelson Neighborhood Development Plan. Table One Design: walking paths, dog park, wildflower area, shelter, community gardens, benches, parking lot Table Two Design: paved trail, walking paths, parking, playground, shelter combination tennis/basketball court, open field for ultimate Frisbee Table Three Design: walking paths, dog park with preserved natural foliage benches and tables; lit tennis court; play area; half basketball court; pavilion with restroom; shade trees; picnic area; benches; gravel parking lot; regular parking lot Table Four Design: walking paths, tower, shelter with picnic area, community garden with water service, gravel parking lot, dog park Table Five Design:  paved paths, 1 acre dog park, maintain foliage, sun shelter, play area, undeveloped green space

Survey Results

As part of the master plan process, Madison Parks mailed out and issued an online survey to gather additional neighborhood input on the project.  Survey responses were due by September 1, 2017 and a total of 85 survey responses were submitted.  The survey results are available below:
