Project Details

The City of Madison is proposing the construction of a new 2800-foot long pedestrian shared use path that would connect the existing Capital City Path at Sugar Avenue northward to Milwaukee Street. Three structural elements are proposed as part of the design including a bridge through the northern limits of the project, a bridge replacement at Ivy Street, and a new bridge crossing over Starkweather Creek.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2021.

Public Information Meeting # 2: 6 p.m., Dec. 19, 2019, Olbrich Botanical Gardens
The City has revised plans based upon feedback at PIM #1 and presented on Dec 19, 2019 to obtain further input.  One alternative includes re-routing the path along Starkweather Dr and reconstructing the street as a one way street, swale and bike path.  The two alignment alternatives and presentation can be found below:
